As I love trying new and fun techniques, I decided one day to dip my brushes into some of my favourite beverages and with a little practice, I was able to create the paintings below. Some might celebrate their daily work at the easel with a large glass of red wine, I just prefer to pour it on my watercolour paper!
To use coffee as paint, I have to brew it quite strong. Tea is simply lovely when painted but is just too light to show up in a single pass – I normally brew a couple of tea bags in a shot glass of boiling water for about 10 minutes to make the tea as dark as possible. Wine, red ale and Guinness build much more beautifully and I use them straight out of the bottle or can!
